Fees and Payment

There are multiple ways to pay for your betterment therapy sessions. Please find a breakdown of fees and how to pay for them below.

Fees

1. Psychotherapy Sessions

  • My fee for new clients is $100 per 30 minute session, $165 per 50 minute session, or $265 per 80 minute session. There are no additional taxes or fees. This fee remains the same regardless of the type of therapy used or the number of people attending.

2. Missed Sessions and Late Cancellation

  • When you book a session with me, I hold that spot for you and keep you especially in mind as I prepare for our time together. Because I have many clients hoping to get a spot in my most popular times, like evenings, it is imperative that spots committed to are spots kept. This is why I have a fee for missed sessions and late cancellations. My fee for a missed session or late cancellation is a flat $50 CAD. You are free to cancel or reschedule your session up to 24 hours before the session time. If you cancel or reschedule closer than 24 hours before your session, you will be charged this fee. You will also be charged this fee if you do not show up for your session. This fee does not apply in cases of medical emergency.

3. Sliding Scale Sessions

  • I offer a limited number of spaces for clients on sliding scale pricing. This means reduced session fees in order to remove financial barriers on therapy access. The sliding scale spaces are reserved for clients who are unemployed, not on insurance, or can not otherwise afford therapy. If you are in need and are interested to learn more, please write me at contact@thepursuitofbetterment.com

Payment Methods

    1. Credit Card

    • You can use any Visa, Mastercard or American Express card to pay for your sessions. I can securely set up your card to Autopay, meaning that you only need to present it at the first session, and then my system will automatically charge your card after each session.

    2. E-transfer

    • You can use e-transfer to my email to pay for your sessions. The receipt you receive after this form of payment is identical to if you paid by credit card.

    3. Insurance Coverage

    • A part of your session cost might be covered by your insurance. Your insurance would need to explicitly say that it covers a "Psychotherapist," "Registered Psychotherapist" or "Psychotherapy" to be applicable. If your insurance says that it covers a "counselor" or "counseling," then it may be applicable and you should call your insurance provider to check with them before we start our first session. If your insurance covers a "Social Worker," "RSW" or "Psychologist," and not the above, then your insurance is not applicable to my services. If you are unsure, please call your insurance provider and ask them for details. Please also check with your insurance provider regarding whether they accept direct billing from Psychotherapists, or require you, the client, to submit your receipts for reimbursement. If I am able to directly bill your provider, I will do so for you. If I cannot, I will provide you with a detailed receipt after each payment for you to submit for reimbursement.
